Koto
Two developers who screenshotted portfolios instead of saving them, then screenshotted the screenshots.
The problem
Koto’s art research lived in a phone camera roll, between a photo of a parking space and eleven pictures of a cat, with no name attached to any of it.
A screenshot of a portfolio is a picture of a thing you liked, which is not the same as a way to contact the person who made it. Reverse image search became a regular part of the working week.
With Artkive
We swapped the camera roll for a roster, and the reverse image searches stopped entirely.
Saving now takes the same single gesture as a screenshot but keeps the name, the platform, the rate and the link. The cat photos remain untouched and unstructured, as intended.
