Bellweather
A board game publisher whose art pipeline lived in a Slack channel called #art-maybe.
Bellweather had a Slack channel where anyone could drop a portfolio link, and everyone did, and nobody ever read it back. Two years of excellent taste, scrolled past forever.
Search worked in theory. In practice it returned four hundred messages containing the word art, mostly from a running joke about a cursed card illustration that nobody wanted to explain to new hires.
The channel became a roster, which is what it had been trying to be for two years without the structural means to succeed.
Backlogged links were captured with full profiles, tagged by game genre and medium, then filtered down to the artists who actually suited the next three releases. The channel survives, purely for the cursed card.
Slack links turned into profiles
Two years of backlog cleared
Releases cast from the backlog
Artists found long before needed
Cursed illustration retired
Unrelated, but a relief
Bellweather is invented for this demo, and so is every figure above it.
