Tessellate
A motion collective that quoted a client before checking whether anyone was available.
Tessellate quoted a four-week turnaround on the confident assumption that its usual animators were free, then discovered that two had moved into full-time roles some months previously.
Availability had been recorded nowhere, because everyone assumed it was obvious. It had been obvious, once, at the moment it was true, which is the least useful moment to record anything.
Availability is now a field rather than a vibe.
Each animator carries their status and rate, updated when a conversation happens rather than when a deadline forces the question. Quotes now go out against a roster that reflects the present tense.
