Ember
A series art department that maintained twelve personal lists and one shared belief that someone else was tracking it.
The problem
Ember’s art department had twelve people keeping twelve private lists, each quietly assuming a shared master list existed somewhere. It did not. It never had.
The assumption held for two seasons, sustained by the fact that nobody ever needed the master list badly enough to go looking for it. Then a show got greenlit on a short schedule and everybody went looking at once.
With Artkive
The twelve lists became one, which took an afternoon and settled a two-season misunderstanding.
Duplicates merged by profile URL, so the same concept artist appearing on five personal lists became one record with five people’s notes attached. The overlap turned out to be the most useful part.
