Verity
A record label whose album art shortlist was thirty Instagram saves and no usernames.
Verity’s creative director saved album-art references on Instagram for two years, building a collection of thirty images and precisely zero ways to contact the people who made them.
Saves preserve the post, not the person, and a reposted image credits nobody. Half the shortlist turned out to be the same artist, repeatedly, which nobody noticed until they were all in one place.
The saves became a roster, at which point the shortlist of thirty revealed itself to be a shortlist of nineteen.
Each artist now carries their handle, platform, medium and rate. Reference images live on the inspiration board next to the profile of whoever actually made them, which is a connection Instagram declines to make.
